Description

Cyberbullying has grown into a global concern over the last decade. Developing valid and reliable assessment tools is essential for understanding this phenomenon and designing effective prevention and intervention strategies. In this context, the Cybervictimization Questionnaire for adolescents (CYVIC; Álvarez-García et al., 2017) has proven to be a valuable tool. Now that 10 years have passed since its design and first application in 2015, this poster has two objectives. First, to revisit the structure and metric properties of the CYVIC; and second, to review published works that have utilized the test over the last ten years. Regarding the first objective, the CYVIC was originally applied to 3159 young people, aged 12 to 18. Factorial analysis revealed an internal structure of four factors (Impersonation, Visual-Sexual Cybervictimization, Written-Verbal Cybervictimization, and Online Exclusion) and four additional indicators of Visual Cybervictimization related to online teasing or physical aggression. Evidence of its criterion validity and appropriate reliability was also found. Regarding the review of works in which it has been used in the last 10 years, a broad search using Google Scholar, with "CYVIC" as the search term from 2015 onwards, revealed its use in published works by research groups in 9 countries across Europe, America, and Asia. It has been used to evaluate the prevalence, most common types, predictors, consequences, and the effect of interventions on cybervictimization. The CYVIC has thus established itself as a valuable resource for researchers and professionals in the field of cyberbullying prevention over the last decade.
