Description
Research studies in Malaysia found that Malaysian secondary students (ages 14-17 years old) perceived cyberbullying as an extension of bullying in schools. What began as physical or verbal bullying would be continued as cyberbullying in social media via platforms such as Whatsapp, Tiktok and Instagram, and the cycle was renewed in episodes that could last from days to months. This workshop shares a preventative intervention programme for students and teachers aimed at stopping bullying and cyberbullying and inculcating pro-social behaviour. Participants will take part in two activities that will enable them to understand the roles of bystanders and teachers who can take an active part in stopping the bullying and cyberbullying. A debriefing session will be conducted to share insights and experiences of the participants, and to consider how to take affirmative action going forward.
